Vegging with T5 Lighting - Blue only, or Blue + Red?

For those who veg with T5 lighting, do you use all blue bulbs, or a mixture of blue and red (flowering) bulbs?

All blue if you want a quicker veg.

If you're running a perpetual and need to slow the veg while you wait for space to open up in the flower room, that's a good time to do alternating red and blue bulbs.

I use just blue--6500K. I would think that a combination of the two would result in a little more stretch rather than slowing down the growth...much in the same way that using a HPS to veg causes the plants to stretch more.

It does slow down the growth rate.I use it as a trick to slow the roll in the veg area all the time. I've got alternating bulbs in my 4ft T5 right now slowing things down while I wait for males to show and space to open up. I've never noticed any difference in their stretch.

I have to look for tricks like that because of my short flowering space. I can't have plants vegged big under the T5 and then go massive when they hit the 1k, I don't have the head room. If the plants are vegged enough to be flipped, and I don't have room, I swap out the bulbs.

@orangesunshine Yes, I always veg on 24 because I have a bedroom where the lights free hang for veg, couldn't get it dark if I wanted too, lol.
