I am starting this thread for anyone who might have questions. I don't know a lot, Just what I have seen from pictures and what I have read. All opinions are welcome. This thread is for learning. If you are stuck in the HID world which I like and use it is best you not post here.

As much as I love the idea, it's all but impossible to truly compare ANY two grows.
Once you introduce a LIVING thing into an experiment all bets (and repeatability) fly out the window.

Sure it's the same strain or it's a clone or whatever but as anyone who has a twin (genetically the SAME) as a wife/husband knows
There is Little to no sameness between twins

Until there is a sea of stats and 1000's of grows I don't think any conclusions can be drawn.

That said, I'm using LED to flower but I am a first time grower so I have no experience of HID etc
Heck as a first time grower I have no LED experience either.
Either way I'll provide any input I can and look forward to other's input.

But I'm not holding my breath that this won't turn into a war.

Is it worth a "switch" probably not.

Is it the better option for someone just starting out? Debatable for sure.

I used HID lighting for 30+ years and only use LED's in every stage including rooting clones and popping seeds now a days.

For me, HID's are yesterdays tech and in the rear view mirror.

Lots of questions can be answered in the thread Ozzy posted a while back. Pretty good info in there for anyone wanting some basics.

I currently use LEDs to root, clone, and veg. My LED is a California Light Works SolarFlare 200-watt VegMaster. I've been really pleased with the results. LEDs have definitely arrived for vegging.

But I'm skeptical about their ability to flower and produce buds of the same potency as an HPS.

I'm a small, personal grower so I don't need huge yields. But I do want very high potency.

Can today's LEDs flower MJ to produce buds of the same (or close) potency as HPS can? This is the only barrier preventing me from going LED for flowering as well.

BTW, all my grows are SCROGS (from now on), which helps the LED case by not requiring deep light penetration into the canopy.

Potency is based on the strain and how well it is grown. The lights won't change that fact much.

The only pic showing lights is a random pic I used for an album cover. Not the lights I use which are Apollo 10's and 6's from Cidly.com.
That said, my lights are custom designed by me.

Locally I have only seen a few "bags" claiming to be LED....I don't use them so was interested to see what was in the bag. Was bomb nugget that's for sure....I have often wondered about a lower monthly juice bill....but still bling the 1000's just the same....

i grew dank under a specifically designed LED for flowering----tops are solid---plants were less stressed---tricomb production from the same strain was =/or better to that of an hps ---my power bill was less than that of 2k hps---i got it out for unbiased taste/buzz to 3rd party testing now---dried and cured---the LED flowers have a better bag appeal

so i guess the question now would be what LED system to buy? 4x4 tent. it would only be to Flower with.
