I thought I would discuss 1 of my breeding adventures. We can all argue about who is a breeder and who is a pollen chucker. Use whatever term you are comfortable with.

The goal of this breeding was to draw upon several different sources of chocolate weed together in a single gene pool. So the first thing was to define the gene pool from which are subsequent breeding will come from. I used a male and a female of 3 distinct strains. I used chocolate piss by Drawoh, chocolate rain by Escobar, and head trip by Bodhi.

Chocolate piss was used for the chocolate thai, and the cat piss a nice addition to the gene pool.
Chocolate rain was used for the coco kush. It is a big yielder with very fruity, skunky buds.
Headtrip was used for the chocolate trip, which was an older strain from Dutch flowers.

I selected different plants for different reasons. The chocolate piss female was selected for smell, density, and yield. The male used was selected for 2 things. The stem rub smell and how it showed males flowers. The male pistils started from the middle of the plant, not the top. This is a tip I learned from a few breeder friends a long time ago.

The female from the chocolate rain was solely for taste. I grew this plant out and flowered it. Harvested it, then revegged it and took clones. It was what gave me the idea for the breeding project. The male was just a super healthy plant with loads of hybrid vigor. The stem rub smelled great, but it was not really a deciding factor. Just the general health of the plant was outstanding.

The headtrip female used was chosen for yield. It smelled more like lemon pinesol and had no chocolate smell at all. But the yield was awesome. Impressive even. The male used was quite squat and a late bloomer. The structure of this plant was what made it stand out.

All 6 plants were put into the flowering space and let go to do their thing. The gene pool now consists of the following hybrids, ( most are F1 but some are F2):

cp x cp
cp x ht
cp x cr
cr x cr
cr x cp
cr x ht
ht x ht
ht x cp
ht x cr

I have grown out about 30 seeds so far, and given away 300 or so as testers and freebies. 4u2 and PC Duck have some experience with these. PC is currently growing 1 and 4u2 did a grow earlier. More to come......

For the first time in more than a year, I have had a chance to see what seed stock I have for breeding purposes. I have enough seed stock to do a nice F2 run, but I have added a few more selective genes I might add to the basic BoC. I have SnowHigh's holy diver and Hazeman's coco puffs which honestly uses all of the primary genetics from the first BoC breeding; ie, chocolate thai, coco kush, and chocolate trip. I think once things are back on track, these will be some things I will work. Looking promising.
