keeping low key

I was talking with a friend of mine 'i get my mj from at the moment' we talked about growing etc for a few minutes and he said I would be afraid the choppers would fly over with inferred and know I'm growing. Is this something to worry about?

How could they tell if its a grow or a heater or even a hot car engine cooling down in a garage etc.

Your thoughts?

The choppers IR picks up a heat sourse, they have no idea what's causing the heat, just that it's there. They then try to find outwhat's causing it. Looking at you electrical usage is a good place to start.

With the weed laws the way they are now, combined with local economies, I don't see the cops doing this much, too expensive. They find grows the old fahioned way, growers who talk too much....and rats.

i agree with cubby---cops are busy---loose lips sink ships---not bored cops investigating a higher than average heat signature from a 10k watt grow room they might accidentally find while joy riding/cruising and playing with the infrared camera in the department helicopter---propaganda like this instills fear to protect your dealers profit margin---same propaganda peeps believing the power company will turn u in for an increase in usage---don't steal electric---pay ur bill---don't worry---be happy

I was about to make a thread but it almost overlaps this one so i'll just jump in here

(paranoia, it destroy ya)
what about web based things?
IE chatting it up here on this sight or ordering hydroponic supplies on Amazon
and finally the one thing on this list I have NOT done (yet)... ordering beans.

oh the (back) stories I could tell... but i'll sum it up with these two high-lights
cranky, uptight neighbors in a collage apartment called the cops on me about the smell of smoke in the halls
and
SERIOUSLY uptight neighbor (and condo association member) made such a stink about the air duct I had venting out the basement window that I had the local cops and DEA @ my door. [good thing I was into overclocking my PC @ the time and all I had in my basement was an indoor AC unit]

needless to say @ this point I feel like a beat-down dog who cowers at Anything

sorry too chatty...

so, web order beans?
yes, its no big deal
or
NO, a real red flag raiser, DONT do it

There are some places you can print out the order form and send cash to, nothing online. The one I have used is HempDepot, They are legitimate

It is extremely expensive to run helicopters and run infrared. In addition, it can be hard, especially in winter, to detect the difference between a light signature and other heat sources. I can say that being detected by helicopters and having the power company turn me in is so far down my list of things I worry about as to be insignificant.

It is mistakes like Justa420friend made (uncontrolled odors and undisguised window vent), growing debris/supplies left around and loose lips that gets you busted. Buying supplies from Amazon and buying beans online does not get you busted.

I don't worry about loose lips, obvious signs of growing, mail order seeds or any of that stuff, but accept the fact that you can still get caught. I had a drier fire a while back and ended up with a dozen firemen in my laundry room....along with a shelf holding 25+ clones. They knocked over the rack holding my clones, stepped all over them and never noticed, thankfully. My flower room was literaly on the other side of the door, odor control is priceless.

There's always that little thing, the unexpected, the never considered, that will jump up and bite you on the backside. You can't eliminate risk of discovery, the best you can do is minimize your legal exposure. Know the laws of your state, possible punishments, and make a logical informed decision.

Untill all states are legal we must stay under the radar............

Do you think it is weird to have a ac unit hanging out my window in the garage? It is 2 stories up and no one goes behind my house. The neighbor has someone mow their lawn and could look up and see the unit but honestly I don't think they would question it.

PPL live over Garages all the time,,so I cant see where An AC unit would draw attention. Ive seen Peeps use the room over their Garage for storage and kept them heated and cooled.
