Anyone using this airstone? I bought some airstones from China, they cost $ 2.90 with free shipping. It works real well, fine bubbles compared to the cylinder style and more of them. I am using my Million Air 200, 2.3 watt air pump. Would 2 of these be enough for a 5 gallon DWC bucket?Werbung: http://www.ebay.ca/itm/Aquarium-Air-Pipe-Airstone-Tube-Balance-Holder-Proof-Oxygen-Circulate-Pump-/310723017785?ssPageName=ADME:L:OC:CA:3160#ht_4275wt_1362

It is hard to say, but probably. There will be less bubbles produced in a 5 gal bucket because the water pressure on the stone is greater. Have you tried putting 2 in a 5 gal bucket and seeing how it looked?

have you checked the light penetration on the bucket? you don't want ANY light getting to the reservoir. i used dark blue bucket's and i wrapped them in black duct tape a few times.

My bucket is still white, I was wondering if someone would spot that, I have some time before I start the DWC, I just haven't got around to painting it yet. I may just use a black garbage bag to cover it. You know, roll it up to keep light out, roll it down to check.

I didn't realize that was THE bucket you were going to use. I thought you were just checking how much the 2 air stones cause 5 gals to bubble. You absolutely want a bucket that no light can penetrate. I recommend just getting black buckets. Not all black garbage bags actually block light and I think that would just be a PITA.

I really like DWC. I did an ebb and flow recently, but the growth doesn't matching that of my DWC buckets.

I am having a hard time finding black buckets, I did find a dark brown one tho and I may be able to get more of those but I think I will still cover them somehow. THG you are right about the bags, not all black bags block light, you have to look for the right ones.

I tried to keep mine as close to 70 as i could,,but it wasnt easy in the deep south. LOL I noticed my roots were white as they could be with cool solution temps at around 69 to 70. it would float up around 75 in the hottest part of the day,,for a short time,,before i added fresh frozen water bottle. Didny have the money for a Chiller.

Random thought on the whole air stone thing.. this is supposed to be a majorly superior stone to all out there. Creates amazing bubbles and stays cleaner 3x longer, so I've heard. They seem nice, but WOO expensive.

I use 4" cylindrical currently, but am considering buying 4 of the double's, for DWC.
